Press: Good Spirits News Leaves Öömrang Wines A Glowing Review

Öömrang recently had the honor of being featured in a glowing review by Good Spirits News (GSN). GSN reviewed three of Öömrang’s White Wine varietals: the 2021 Estate Kerner, the 2020 Estate Müller-Thurgau, and the 2020 Estate Siegerrebe. All grown and crafted in Washington State’s Puget Sound AVA.

GSN highlighted the exceptional quality and unique characteristics of the wines, designating Öömrang Hüs as a trailblazer in the wine industry.

“Öömrang, Inc., a boutique winery in Washington State, is making waves in the wine industry with its unique blend of German tradition and Pacific Northwest winemaking.”

GSN also shared how Öömrang masterfully cares for their property, vineyards, and micro-climate, ensuring the highest quality German white wine varietals and European-style Eau de Vie. This care and dedication is a direct reflection of the Stoeckleins’ family history and their passion for crafting wines that resonate with their German roots.

“The winery’s approach combines traditional techniques with sustainable practices. The vineyards benefit from the region’s unique microclimate. The limited production model underscores their focus on quality over quantity, producing exclusive wines that appeal to a discerning clientele.”

The quality, craftsmanship, and artisanal style of Öömrang’s wines came to fruition with a stellar review from GSN:

  • 2021 Estate Kerner: A light gold summer wine, with mango and vanilla notes, has a smooth, semi-tart flavor like lemon meringue pie. GSN rating A-.

  • 2020 Estate Müller-Thurgau:  A light yellow wine has a creamy, fruity palate with a peppery oak finish, ideal for soft cheeses. GSN rating A+.

  • 2020 Estate Siegerrebe: This pale yellow wine has a fruity, smooth, and understated profile with a slightly burnt caramel character. GSN rating A-.

About Öömrang:

In 2016, a serendipitous moment at a Thanksgiving gathering in Stanwood, Washington, transformed Edmund and Christine Stoecklein's basement winemaking hobby into a viticultural journey. The winery was officially incorporated in December 2016 and by 2017, the Stoeckleins planted their first two varietals, formally launching their winemaking venture. Thus, the family operation emerged, passionately crafting high-end, Washington-grown, German white wine varietals within an unparalleled micro-climate.

Today, Öömrang is an 85-acre farm thriving in a micro-climate that is a rarity in Washington State, benefiting from the sheltering presence of the mountains. The Stoeckleins pride themselves on delivering the highest quality of authentic German white wine using a blend of sustainable, innovative, and traditional practices.
